Spend a day at La Vigna Láctea, Uruguay’s only certified organic pastoral cheesery, located in the countryside of Colonia Valdense.

Founded over 20 years ago by Lucila and Agustín, La Vigna is built around biodiversity, animal welfare, slow food, and the art of transforming milk into something timeless. Their sheep, goats, and Jersey cows graze freely on chemical-free pastures, and the young are never prematurely separated from their mothers. Milk is collected once per day, respecting natural cycles.

This experience invites you to understand the philosophy behind artisan “queso de pastor,” a tradition rooted in simplicity, sustainability, and craftsmanship.

During the visit, you’ll walk through the organic farm, learn about regenerative practices and animal welfare, explore the cheesemaking spaces, and taste a selection of their signature cheeses.

From Pecorino Valdense to Cabrembert, Ricotta Prensada and aged Jersey reserve cheeses, each product reflects decades of experimentation, study, and dedication.

La Vigna is not industrial production.
It is quality over quantity.
It is the architecture of cheese.

Optional Stay

La Vigna also offers boutique countryside accommodation at their Posada.

• Guided walk through the organic farm (35 hectares, chemical-free)
